คติความเชื่อในโฉลกอีสาน : ลักษณะผู้ชายผู้หญิงกับการเลือกคู่ครอง

 This article examined the beliefs in physiognomy - the good or bad of appearance - of the Northeast (I-san) people through literature by studying of three Northeast (I-san) literatures namely “chalok chaydee lae sure chalok ying dee lae sure”, “Thao kham pha kham sorn ”,and “ Kulu nang aue” The result indicated that the guideline for selecting spouse of the Northeast (I-san) people, not only consider in the behavior but also the physiognomy. Moreover, the Northeast (I-san) literatures also indicated to young men and women that they need to consider in selecting spouse who had good physiognomy in order to bring prosperity to the family. When examined ideology of Northeast (I-san) people from three Northeast (I-san) literatures found that men and women who had a good physiognomy must have characteristics as follow; shine black hair, shaped eyes, raise eyebrows, silky smooth skin, beautiful lips, and good shape. Those characteristics were described the player in Thai literature. But one thing that made the Northeast (I-san) literatures were outstanding was the belief of local ideology that was men or women who were not good looking would be selected to be a spouse because they had charisma. On the other hand, men or women who were good looking but were not good in physiognomy would not be selected.
