การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจในการจัดการป่าชุมชนอีสาน และผลของปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจดังกล่าว โดยมุ่งเน้นศึกษาในมิติโครงสร้างและผู้กระทำการ เลือกศึกษาป่าชุมชนสองแห่งในภาคอีสาน ได้แก่ ป่าชุมชนโคกใหญ่ และป่าชุมชนดงเค็ง เก็บรวมรวมข้อมูลจากประชากรเป้าหมาย 2 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ 1) กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลัก 2) กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลที่เป็นผู้รู้ โดยใช้แนวทางการสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง การสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วมและไม่มีส่วนร่วมเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวมข้อมูล ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจในการจัดการป่าชุมชนโคกใหญ่และป่าชุมชนดงเค็ง เป็นปฏิบัติการต่อสู้ ต่อรองอำนาจระหว่างชาวบ้านกับชาวบ้าน และระหว่างชาวบ้านกับรัฐและทุน และผลของปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงอำนาจในการจัดการป่าชุมชน เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างหลายด้าน เช่น การยอมรับสิทธิชุมชนในการจัดการป่า การจัดตั้งองค์กรชุมชนอนุรักษ์ที่เป็นทางการ และส่งผลกระทบต่อแกนนำชาวบ้านที่ถูกฟ้องร้องดำเนินคดีโดยชาวบ้านและหน่วยงานของรัฐ ซึ่งผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้ยืนยันในเชิงทฤษฎีว่า โครงสร้างกับการกระทำมีลักษณะสัมพันธ์กัน

The objectives of this qualitative research were to analyze 1) power interaction in community forest management, And the effects of the power interaction in community forest management from structure – agency perspective. Two community forests were selected as case studies for this research: Khok Yai Community Forest and Dong Kheng Community Forest. The qualitative methodology was employed for data collection from 2 groups of key informants and the data were collected by semi-structure interview, in dept interview and participatory observation and non - participatory observation. The research findings indicated that the power interaction in community forest management was composed of various types of fighting and negotiation among groups of people and organizations with direct and indirect concern , for example, the negotiation between villagers and villagers and between villagers and government,And analysis of the interaction between the power of community forest management. And affect people who are leaders sued by villagers and government agencies. The results of this study confirm the theoretical. Structure to carry out a corresponding manner
